What happens when you combine beer, a fuzzy helmet, a 5k run, obstacles, mud, and a party? That definition is called The Warrior Dash. The Warrior Dash starts the Mudrun craze here in Florida as well as for themselves on this Saturday, Feb 10th. The Warrior Dash is themed this year by being called the Elements Tour. 12 obstacles, 4 elements, and 1 DAMN GOOD TIME!!!!!

I ran it last year and found it was a great race to start the season that still had it’s challenges (Alcatraz) and the largest damn beer ever when you are finished. It also proved to be the muddiest venture that shown at the finish line. It is probably considered the best party and mudrun combined together.

This year in Central Florida will have the returning favorites such as Warrior Summit, Warrior Roast, Muddy Mayhem, and and Pallet Jacked. It will also be the debut of some obstacles we never seen before such as No Man’s Land, Rock Slide, Super Soaker, and the Fifth Element. I am excited to try out these new obstacles and see what fun I have before i finish for that fine beer. As always at this location, it will start with Alcatraz at the 1 mile mark. How cold will the water be this year???  I have been training by taking some dips in the Gulf of Mexico to prepare for that plunge.

The last year and a half I have been doing these runs alone and posting videos as well as pictures on social media during and after the event. I have found that a mudrun is special to experience with your friends as you all come together to overcome your own special challenges and fears. I also found that most runners are the most generous type of people out there and do not mind stopping to lend a hand when you are alone and just cannot quite do that one challenge. This year I will not be alone to start. I have now recruited 3 people to run with me, 2 that has never done one before and one that has.
