On Saturday morning runners and zombies alike were arriving for the 5k zombie run in Sarasota. Basically runners are playing flag football with zombies, except the flags are the lives of the runners and you must survive the zombie attacks while running to the end.

This was my first 5k ever, let alone a themed 5k. The event organizers were very orderly and good with directing people to where they needed to be. I personally liked how you could “bloody” yourself up before the run (even though I managed to really bloody myself up during the run). From start to finish it seemed like an event that should be a Sarasota mainstay and I personally look forward to when it comes back next year to participate again. Below is the viedo of my run:

Afterwards, there was a 5k Colorblast run. This involved packets of colorful powder that is thrown on the runners before and during the run at stations. Really made for a mess, but a lot of picture moments that will be unforgettable. For those like me that did both runs…..well…..3 medals. After all, we do it for health; and the bling.

Next Sunday I will be participating in the Savage Race and this will really test my mettle. This was a good start (without the obstacles) to get my running legs under me. This is a first in a series of runs I plan on doing for this coming year. I am always looking for ideas and I encourage my followers to submit an idea, or even come run with me. We will be “Team Thrillseekers.”
