Screamageddon … You Will Scream

Screamageddon is in it’s third year North of Tampa near Dade City. One would think it is difficult coming up with a scare park in the area of the big boys with Howloscream just south and Horror Nights an hour east, but they attempted and did. Screamageddon is one of the parks that once you go to, you will want to go back the next year to see if they can top of the previous year and get that hands-on scare.  I went to Screamageddon on media night and decided to check out all  5 haunts myself and let you know how it went.

I score on a scale of 1 to 5 screams (I also base heavily on what I observe from others since I do not get scared easily in these parks).

BEDLAM 3D (3 screams)

Bedlam 3d is one of the original houses and still packs a wallop. There is a lot of illusion and darkness. The actors are better placed this year than previous years to capitalize on the scares. I feel it did more for me this year than last and I went all 3 years. SO was very happy to see that.

BLACKPOOL PRISON (5 screams)

In it’s second year Blackpool Prison does not disappoint. The actors seem to take the roles seriously and love to attempt to scare you. This is one of the hands-on houses and I was able to visit a lot of cells, and even a containment chamber. I will be truthful, if I got scared easily, this one would have me shaking afterwards. This is the one you save til the end if looking for that ultimate.

DEADWOODS (3 screams)

I really love the idea of a haunt as you are walking through the dark woods at night. There is so much that can be done with this attraction. To me it succeeds in the scares, but doesn’t really work smoothly in execution. The final stretch is the best for myself. I look forward to this every year hoping they find the magic to move this to the MUST DO haunt one cannot miss AT ALL.

INFECTED GROUND ZERO (4 screams)

This is the new hands on house for 2017 and one in which they are very proud of. It is also very long which is good for me. This is definitely a haunt which goes outside and inside and back outside with a lot of places for the scares to happen. You will lose your party here if you select the hands on approach. I could see this getting better as it is refined for the next season, but by no means is it bad either. IT IS A MUST!!!!!!

CURSED HAYRIDE (3 screams)

Being pulled on a wagon by a tractor through the woods at night is awesome in itself. Having actors try to scare you while this is happening is even better. The story of the haunt is kind of hard to follow, but it improves every year in refining the scares to succeed. In the 3 years this has existed this one was the most intense of the 3 and I like that it is getting better and better. This you must do and be sire to look every which way for mutations in the swamp.

Screamageddon is different and smaller than the other scare parks, but hits the bullseye in areas where the other parks miss. There is no continuous line going through the houses. You and your party will get your own intimate scares. One would say there is nothing else except the houses. The Monster Midway does have games, fire pits, and roaming monsters that make for excellent photo ops, but it is correct that there are no rides. The price of the park is reflects in it though and makes it that much better to visit at an affordable price
. Also, being smaller allows the scares to work much better that the major parks has trouble in doing in the style they do it.

Screamageddon has been highly recommended by me in previous years and so it is again this year. Once you go, you will want to go back year after year after year. I spoke to my contest winner of previous years and they agreed that they may never have gone if not for free, and now they cannot miss out on it each year it comes.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
