Darius Rucker Kicks off His Tour in Tampa

Darius Rucker started his Good For A Good Time Tour here in Tampa and was it a wonderful start for his fans to come down the road. Rucker, who is also lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish, brought his unique country style to the Midflorida Amphitheater in Tampa and brought the good times to the crowd.

Michael Ray opened up the tour and set the tone for what you knew was going to be a good show this evening. Michael Ray, who exploded on the country scene with Kiss you In The Morning, brought his energy to the stage. It seemed that he was seeing everyone and playing to everyone in the crowd that evening. Seeing him perform Real Men Love Jesus brought a whole new outlook to that song for me and other fans. I am sure he made a lot of new fans also.

Dan and Shay were next in this star-studded lineup and they were blessed to be able to open up a tour on the day they released their new album Obsessed Where we got to hear first time live performances of a couple of their songs. They played new hit From The Ground Up along with other past hits they have been known for. Dan and Shay continued building the energy that was started by Michael Ray and kept building it to the point the whole house was ready for the Main Act.

The man himself, Darius Rucker, came on stage to a roaring crowd. He has a huge repertoire of hits that he played for the evening. Bringing his unique voice to the stage the crowd sang along to his hits AlrightRadioHomegrown Honey, and Wagon Wheel. He also performed hits from Hootie and the Blowfish such as Time and Only Wanna Be With You. The highlight of the evening is when he brought out Michael Ray and Dan and Shay to the stage to sing the Hootie classic Hold My Hand.

Seeing those artists bringing their takes to this classic all in one version was very interesting and enjoyable. Darius also covered Garth’s Friends In Low Places and finished with a huge tribute to Prince with Purple Rain. Darius Rucker will be touring through the US and it is recommended to see him if his tour brings him near you.
