Circus Sarasota Truely Magnificent

The Circus brings thoughts of laughter, clowns, animals, and breath-taking acts that just makes you smile after wards …. all the while wiping your forehead going “whew.”  Sarasota has always had it’s roots with the circus and Circus Sarasota is one of those roots. Founded by Pedro Reis and Dolly Jacobs, Circus Sarasota reminds the young and old what a circus is truly about and the 2019 edition is by far the perfect example of what a circus is.

The one ring circus is hosted by Ringmaster Joseph Bauer, Jr. Circus Sarasota sets the tone with the beauty of Ambra Andrin over top the ring in her aerial lyra. She than lowers down to show her control over the beautiful white and black horses. If you are still here through this performance you knew it was going to be
a special night.

The evening continued with Viktor Krachinov showing off his extreme juggling skills with a smile throughout his performance.  America’s Got Talent stars Hans Klose and his dogs made a very intelligent performance. The Curatola Bros. showed us what it means to be close, as they tossed each other around the ring in a light-hearted and acrobatic performance. This was all brought to a close before intermission with Pedro Carrillo on the high wire. The high wire will have your jaws open throughout the act, and made it worth the price if you left now….so you think.

How does one top the first half? Bring in two sisters named Nicole and Michelle. In their am
American debut performing together the Kolev Sisters have shown  the astonishment of their hand balancing act that showed off their grace, elegance, strength, and dexterity. This was such a unique act with some amazing skills that it brought the first standing ovation throughout the circus after their act. you can see by the smiles and eyes of the Kolev Sisters that entertaining here in America is a dream come true.

The wonders keep coming til the finale where Ringmaster Bauer, and daredevil extraordinaire climbed atop the wheel of destiny. Light running, a floating fall here and there, and a tenacity of determination all throughout is why Bauer was saved for last. Bringing gasp after gasp as he trips on his jump rope, or looks as if he may fall from the speed, is what he brought us until he finished. I have seen many performances on such a wheel, but Daredevil Bauer definitely brought his own spin to it and owned it as was evidenced by the second standing ovation of the night.

Circus Sarasota is performing through March 10th  and well worth every penny of admission. I am even thinking of seeing it a second time with a different group to allow the children to see a real circus in the style that I grew up watching.

Circus Sarasota is under the Red and White Big Top between University Mall and Nathan Benderson Park. Be sure to find your way to attend the 2019 version before it is too late. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
