Screamageddon opened a couple of weeks ago and after experiencing it myself, I have to agree with them “be very afraid” with me adding “you will never be alone.” I have always liked Screamageddon because of it’s smaller more intimate location, in the middle of the woods, and it’s interactive feel. Most of all I like it because ….. It really scares the hell out of you!!!!!!!!!
2018 is no different other than the houses. The haunted hayride has disappeared, but there is a good reason for that. 5 houses are here with 2 all brand new ones. So what is the winner of the best house for 2018?????
BEST HOUSE FOR 2018
RAGE 3D — This is the new 3d house which has never really impressed me in the previous incarnation. The work has been done, the house has been modified. The clowns are still there, but, the clowns have a better effect on you this year and it is by far the scariest (non-interactive) house at Screamageddon this year. A True Must See
Now I will review all of the other houses and give them a rating of 1 to 5 screams. 5 being the scariest and 1 being little scary. I also rate them on what I view from other parties walking through knowing I do not get as scared as easily as others.
Rage 3D (4.5 screams)
As previously reviewed, this house is awesomely scary. If you feel differently, I challenge you have not been through the final room with your eyes open.
Deadwoods (3.5 screams)
The silence of a walk in the woods as the Tate family is looking to do unspeakable things brings a recipe for scares unheard of. I have found this trail walk is improving each year presented. Previously I would not have done this walk twice in one night, this year I definitely would. I would recommend taking a walk with the glow stick and meeting the Tate family.
Blackpool Prison (4 screams)
I was all excited to see the “chair” has returned to the prison. I do not know if it disappeared previously or I just missed it, but it is BACK!!!!!! This interactive house promises to take you to parts of the prison ALONE, without your friends, and forcibly. They will get nose to nose with you. You must do this with the glow necklace to get the 4 scream feel of it.
Demon’s Revenge (3.5 screams)
This new house built for the event is a walk through a church. This house is great on misdirection to get scares, as well as the feel of the tight and cramped spaces. To me there could have been a lot more done to be a huge effect. This of course would require more scare actors. This could improve through the season, but for now, worth seeing just for the feel and misdirected scares..
Infected: Ground Zero (2.5 screams)
The other interactive house I feel missed the mark 2 years in a row. Granted, I was never touched or removed in my walk-throughs both years, and this may attribute to the low rating. I have heard good things from other people and the walk through the house makes it worth it in itself. Experience it if there is time, but prioritize the other houses.
As mentioned earlier, there is no haunted hayride this year. I have heard the moaning and groaning of people that were disappointed to hear this. What did they bring???? WELLLLLL……….
Zombie Paintball Assault
This is an added cost attraction, which I would never had paid for if I was not invited to experience this event. I am glad I did, for this turned to be one of the most exciting attractions at Screamageddon and I will happily pay the up charge on my next visit there later this month. The reason why the hayride has been taken away is because zombies have taken over the grounds and it has been deemed too dangerous to take people through the area. So enter a couple of school buses loaded on the side this paint guns and it is now your mission to ride Screamageddon of the zombies so that the hayride may return next year.
There is also many games of chance and skill and campfires to enjoy in the Monster Midway while
awaiting your turn to the houses. This does not make you safe though, as you will find out.
Screamageddon is worth the ticket without the hassle and crowds of the huge parks. The quality of the houses do compare to the huge parks though, so be sure you do visit for 2018 and let me know how you feel about it.
