The Sarasota Medieval Fair Returns to Ringling Woods

Here Ye! Here Ye! The Sarasota Medieval Fair is back!!!  The 12th annual Sarasota Medieval Fair returns to Ringling Woods this year with the full helping of entertainment, crafts, games, rides, and food that we have grown accustomed to year after year. This year King Edward II welcomes us to Scotland in 1314.

Did I mention Jousting? YES!! Jousting is returning to the fair this year with The Knights of Valour, featuring Shane Adams. The Knights of Valor  have been featured on The History Channels Full Metal Jousting a reality game show that features full contact combative jousting. It will be very exciting to see these professionals come to Sarasota to give us a show like which we see on TV.

Of course there will be entertainment. The fair will be here for three weekends and the entertainment will not necessarily be the same each weekend. It is great you can come multiple times and see different acts each weekend.

On Nov 7-8 you will see returning favorites The Craic Show, Topsy Turvy, and Birds of Prey. As well as new acts like Geoffrey Piper (as well as week 2) and Madam Zusa Love Spell (also in week 3). On Nov 14-15 Acrobellum will be returning as well as The American Rogues (whom will also be there the last weekend) and Great Scott! Hypnosis Show. The final weekend of Nov 21-22 brings back the Kellyn Celtic Arts Irish Dance Academy (on Nov 21 only) and the St. Nikolaus Celebration, as well as the Danger, Comedy, Juggling and Whip Show.

Merchants from all over will be there with their crafts and trades to sell and demonstrate to the fair goers. Fortune tellers are sure to be there to give you insight to your future. What fair is without the food and that enormous turkey leg we always want to eat while walking around. Yes, that will be back as well as well as true Scottish foods.

Other than jousting, must we not forget the human chess match. gather round the oversized chess board and watch the participants battle it out until the King is taken. This has always been a favorite of mine and I always look forward to the skills brought forth to the new years battle.
