This Week At Busch Gardens

THIS WEEK AT BUSCH GARDENS……..
Welcome to my new series of articles where I will try to get you informed, engaged, and extremely to head to Busch Gardens Tampa and enjoy Florida’s BEST amusement / zoological park. I will be writing to tell inform you what is going on, some interesting facts you may or may not know, and I will try to get some behind the scenes interviews and information found exclusively on my blog.  Now, on with the fun……………….

NEWS!!!!!!!!

Have you seen the the people trying to climb over the wall by Montu over in Egypt or reaching overhead with their camera flashing that blind picture. Did you take a walk to the Edge of Africa and see the animals looking over the wall and trying to see the other side? What are they all looking to see.

As you all may know, Busch Gardens Tampa had a media gathering last week and announced the newest chapter in in the amusement park’s resume of rides. Now enter COBRA’S CURSE!!!  This is an Egyptian Themed coaster that is being built in part of the Serengeti close to Egypt. It is a one of a kind coaster never to be seen anywhere else. It is being billed a family thrill coaster that will feature a vertical lift and have the cars spinning as you ride the ride. During the ride you will come face-to-face with an 80 foot snake icon and discover the mysteries of an Egyptian archaeological excavation.
Wait, we have seen spin coasters before. What makes this different? According to Busch Gardens park President Jim Dean, he states that “This isn’t your ordinary spin coaster. In true Busch Gardens style, we’re putting a twist on this attraction and taking riders on an unforgettable and exciting journey,”  I was not present to ask questions, but upon reading into about this new ride, and watching interviews, it seems no two rides will ever be the same. The spin of the coaster is decided by the weight of the occupants of the cars at the time. THIS IS AWESOME!!!!! I personally cannot wait for this ride to open in 2016. Currently portions of Egypt are walled off so as the construction does not interrupt the enjoyment of the park’s guests.

THE SERENGETI RAILWAY IS BACK!!!

After a few months of the Serengeti Railway being closed due to the construction of Cobra’s Curse, it is finally back. Busch Gardens has added some track to allow the train to bypass Cobra’s Curse and allow the guests to once again enjoy the Serengeti up close. Walls have been added so that the construction does not interfere with the enjoyment of the Serengeti. It is nice to ride again. The Carousel was closed for refurbishment but was scheduled to be open on June 4rth.

THE DRAGONFIRE GRILL IS OPEN

After the long, long, long wait and it looks BEAUTIFUL.  Gone is the narrow passageway that you groan while waiting in it. Now is the open area with various spots to choose your style of food. They have the Asian Wok, American Grill, Southwest Cantina, Italian Kitchen and the Central Market. There is also a grab and go station featuring Starbucks coffee. The thing that really stood out to me though. GET YOUR OWN DRINKS!!!!!!  Finally, no more waiting on one person to get everything. Fill your own cup and go pay. I took advantage of June’s PASSMEMBER PERK, which is buy one get one free entrees and had a nice American Cheeseburger and some Shrimp Lo Mein. Very good. Also from June 4-8 Abbamania will be performing some music……guess it….yes!!!!   ABBA TRIBUTE!!!!!!!

DID I FORGET TO MENTION……………..PASSMEMBER PERKS!!!!!!!!

It is June and the passmember perk for June is “Buy one get one entrees at participating restaurants. That is awesome if in a family, a way to save some money while dining at Busch Gardens. It is also awesome for solo eaters like me; we get to enjoy a lot more food at half the price and try everything the park has to offer in its fine eating establishments.

That is not all though, Busch Gardens has brought back its Passmember Appreciation Event again. This year it is for passholders only. Fun Card holders will not be let in. This will be taking place on June 12-13 and June 19-20. Also….FIREWORKS!!!!!  More about this event next week. Let’s just say it will be a nice entrance to the ever popular SUMMER NIGHTS!!!!

In closing, let us not forget the Wildlife Docs at the Animal Care Center. When walking by, make sure you pop your head in to see wht may be happening. Might get lucky and see a tiger laying on the table to a snake being x-rayed. Also see them in action as a bird is brought in from the outside for an emergency procedure. Always something to learn at our favorite “critter hospital”

Talking about the animals, make sure you Myombe Reserve and see baby Enzi with his mommy Pele hanging around. Pele does love to show off her baby, so chances are good you will see him quite well through the glass. Mary has a baby daughter also, but a little more reserved. Watch and be patient, and you will see . The cheetah cubs Tendai and Thabo can also be seen some mornings in Cheetah Run. They are a must see if out.

Did you know you can see the Meerkats anytime during the day live on your computer? Thanks to Animal Vision. You can also see penguins, stingrays, and turtles from their sister park Sea World. It is an entertaining way to indulge in an hour or two watching these wonderful creatures.
